The NAME, the BRAND, the WORKS speak for themselves. The Southeast's largest celebration of Organic Living FURAHA KUZALIWAH MAMA NJERE
June 15, 2011 09:53 AM PDT
This is an announcement for the first annual Mama Njere Alghanee Birthday party and tribute. This year’s celebration will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts at 7pm. Funds generated from this effort will be used to hold the event as well as sponsor children attending Afrikan centered schools. The Alghanee family wishes to honor our mother Njere Akosua Aminah Alghanee by establishing a foundation that continues her works. Organizations or individuals interested in sponsoring and schools interested in participating should contact Asiah Alghanee, Director of ABISA Alghanee Foundation (Afrikans born in slave land America) by email at aziznow@hotmail.com, by phone at 678 698-5721 or by post at P.O. Box 3009, Decatur, GA 30031. Mama Njere leaves us with her legacy as an organizer, advocator, educator, and liberator. She worked tirelessly with various organizations with the goal of making the world better for her six children. Njere Alghanee has had a great impact that on the New Afrikan and Rastafarian communities nationwide. As a result we would like to continue her efforts while contributing to the well being of Afrikan people and focusing on the children. The other initiative is to contribute to the various organizations that she worked with. The mission of the ABISA Alghanee Foundation is to provide scholarships to children attending Afrikan Centered Schools while providing manpower to Afrikan centered/New Afrikan organizations (i.e. organizations that work towards the liberation of Afrikan people locally and/or globally). The vision is continue doing the work until Afrikan people are free and self sufficient. The way that we intend to accomplish this is by aiding Afrikan children to be exposed to Afrikan centered education and nation building and requiring their parents to volunteer at an participating organization in order for their child to receive the scholarship. The immediate goal is to provide a $1000 scholarship to as many children as possible. The immediate needs to make this vision a reality is: sponsors to fund scholarships, participating organizations and schools, a liaison at each organization, a marketing team, an accounting team to oversee funds coming in, a granting committee to organize scholarship recipients and establish criteria for receiving scholarships, and finally operating space/office for the foundation. This is not a limited list; however these are needs to get the ball rolling.
